Received a legal call from Reed Smith LLP? Looking for others with similar experiences. (712 views)

I recently started getting calls from someone claiming to be from Reed Smith LLP regarding a legal matter. I looked them up and see they are a large global firm, but the call seemed to be related to a consumer financial issue. It caught me off guard, and I am not sure if this is legitimate or something I should be concerned about.
Has anyone else here received calls from Reed Smith LLP? I am trying to understand what their involvement might be and if this is a standard practice for them.
I found some general information online explaining that they do work in consumer finance and regulatory compliance, which helped a little. However, I am still unclear on what my next steps should be. I want to verify if the contact is genuine and understand my rights if this is debt related.
I also came across a resource that outlines some steps to take, like verifying the caller and knowing your rights under consumer protection laws. It suggested keeping detailed records and seeking legal advice if needed.
If anyone has dealt with this firm directly or has advice on how to handle such a call, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Specifically, how did you confirm it was really them, and what was the outcome? I am just trying to protect myself and make sure I respond appropriately.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
